I grew up in many places but I am a Colorado native. I've never skied- I wouldn't feel safe with sleds on my feet. I went to highschool with my husband but we didn't meet until after I graduated. I went to Colorado State University and gained a BA in Journalism which I have hardly used. I joined the LDS church, which my parents thought would be a phase. I married Mike in the Denver Temple and then we began a family. I didn't imagine myself with 7 children- Yet, who would I choose not to have? They are all special and unique. They have brought me unimaginable joy (and sometimes pain.)
That is my wedding gown that my mom made for me- it was difficult to find a dress that had a bodice that did not dip too low in the front or too low in the back. I was really happy with the dress she made. At the fabric store I thought the material might be more for a couch but she convinced me that it would make up nice. The bolt had a black stain on it, so the store gave us the whole thing for $50- silk brocade! The hardest part was all the beads around the neckline- but they came out wonderful. Thanks Mom!
Your mom did a great job. How interesting...both of our mothers made our wedding dresses. I don't think that happens much now.
I could see how you would worry that the fabric would be too heavy, but it turned out beautifully. And you did get married in Denver in December, so a heavier fabric makes a lot of sense!
And, there is no way I could fit in my wedding dress today. I weighed about 15-20 pounds less then. I don't want to be that small today, but 10 pounds lighter would be a good thing for me.
Was that your wedding dress? Regardless, it's lovely.
ReplyDeleteAnd, I don't count that as your December picture. Only a few days left to get it posted. Tick. Tick. Tick. :)

Fifteen years and still as beautiful as the day you were born. I am proud to be your mother.
ReplyDeleteI meant fifteen years in your wedded bliss and that you are as beautiful as ever. mom
